2023 Genesis eGV70 Review | Introducing the Electrified GV70
The electric wave is coming, and the 2023 Genesis eGV70 is leading the way. This midsize SUV is more powerful than the majority of electric SUVs today. As a luxury ride, it delivers supreme comforts to match its remarkable performance.
The powertrain, driving range, fast charging ability and other important qualities are discussed in this review. Keep reading to find out if the 2023 Genesis Electrified GV70 is right for your lifestyle.
2022 Motor Trend SUV of the Year
Winning SUV of the Year is an honor, especially when that award comes from performance-minded journalists at Motor Trend. This established the all new GV70 from its first year on the market.
Car and Driver gives it a 9 out of 10 and a coveted Editors’ Choice award. Edmunds calls the 2023 “a high performer across the board.”
The GV70 2.0T has a 300-horsepower turbo-four engine. The GV70 3.3T has a twin-turbo V6 that delivers 375 horsepower. Now the 2023 eGV70 arrives as a new model that is the lineup’s top performer.
Using a dual-electric powertrain, the electrified Genesis generates 483 horsepower. With motors positioned at the front and rear axles, the vehicle can move its 516 lb-ft of torque to the axle where it will do the most good.
This provides all-wheel drive for all-weather use, and it has been tuned for a more fun on-road driving experience. Adding to the excitement, Car and Driver notes that this electric SUV is just as fabulous as the regular model.
Long Range Capability
Not only does this EV spit out top power, it also is easy to charge and keep charged. Electric range is an ample 249 miles.
Fast-charging can take it from 10 percent to 80 percent in about 18 minutes. This is one compact SUV you can trust to get you wherever you want to go. This electric version of the popular GV70 SUV is happy to stand up to any competitors from the BMW3 to the Lexus RZ.
Advanced Technologies
Genesis is leading the way in dash tech and other automotive technologies. The Digital Key substitutes for the regular Smart Key. It is an app that works on your phone and can be used on other smart devices as well. It is easy to program to start the vehicle and get the air conditioning running before you depart on a hot summer’s day in Phoenix AZ.
For the ultimate easy entry, the brand has introduced fingerprint authentication. This is definitely the wave of the future.
Smart dash tech includes a 14.5-inch touch screen. The navigation system helps drivers maximize the driving range. A long digital screen behind the steering wheel provides advanced instrumentation.
SurroundView cameras show the perimeter of the vehicle. A new blind spot monitor can operate while the SUV is at speed. It shows what’s behind the vehicle without typical obstructions such as the pillars or rear passengers.
eGV70 vs Other Luxury Rides
Within the Genesis lineup, there are now three electric choices. The 2023 Genesis Electrified G70 is a good midsize sedan. However, the eGV70 has a longer wheelbase, comes with standard all-wheel drive, and is bigger for passengers and their gear.
The 2023 Genesis GV60 was introduced as strictly an electric SUV. It is smaller and has less horsepower than the GV70. However, the performance edition has similar horsepower to the eGV70.
Looking at other brands, there’s an obvious comparison to the Tesla Model Y. However, the electric GV70 comes with more amenities and has plenty of power, capability and luxury to challenge this rival.
The Volvo C40 Recharge has 23 fewer miles of driving range. Output of 401 horsepower is 82 horses less than the Genesis electric SUV.
Spacious, the electrified GV70 has 37.2 inches of second-row legroom and 28.9 cubes of cargo space. Both figures are bigger than rivals such as the Lexus NX.
The 2023 Genesis eGV70 is available for order. You should check out our regular GV70 inventory. For more information, stop by or call Earnahardt Genesis of North Scottsdale.
